SCC Server Binding Information Lost

( SVNSCC , VS .NET 2005, 1.4.0, WIN 2000/XP  )
Type: Public Status:Closed Created: 08 Dec 06 12:00 Updated: 13 Dec 06 12:00

Basically .suo files are never added to source control. They each time
recreated by VS .NET when you perform "Open from source control" operation.
During this operation VS .NET either silently bind web projects into
specific web applications, either show user confirmation if web path
already used.
So, if you pull project into new PC with VS.NET "Open from source control"
operation all should be fine. Do you use the described approach or you
pulling sources by over way?

Any thoughts? This issue is seriously distrupting our use of this product!
--> Richard Winstock (user)  at 11 Dec 06 12:00 writes

We have a websolution containing many projects within SVN.

If I open the solution, and bind each of the projects, and commit the
changes back into SVN, all appears fine if I close visual studio and
re-open the solution.

If however, another user on a different machine does an SVN Update, and
then opens the solution the server bindings are lost. It would appear that
this is caused by us not keeping the .suo file in SVN (as this keeps user
specific information).

We have tried copying this .suo file over to the other users machine, and
then the server bindings are maintained, except that the SVN user is the
that of the original user who made the bindings, and not the user on the
machine.

Does this mean that the server bindings also store the user and that the
binding information is stored in the .suo file. If so, this is a huge
problem as .suo files should not be stored in source control (Visual source
safe does not store these files either as default).

I have not heard about similar cases.
Please tell me step by step, how i can restore it on my side.

Successfully installed plugin, and then bound the projects successfully to
PushOK / SVN.

Everything works ok, if however, someone on another machine gets the latest
versions of the solution and projects, and opens visual studio, the binding
has not worked correctly as the server details are lost.

Any ideas ?
