I just want to inform you that we assign "accepted" state to your ticket.
That means that we working on this issue (file renaming). It is expected

Renaming is very interesting issue. We expect that it will work with
SVN, however we are wrong. The main problem is even SCCAPI have some
function for this, we not find IDE's that call it. We test PB, VS
.NET, VS 6.0, VB. Later we found some articles where written than most
of IDE simply do not support it at all!!!
Just the most stupid behavior. Have the specific function, but not call
it. Right now we searching ways how to avoid that. One of possible way
is to use file monitoring to determine file rename. So we are working
on that, and probably resolve this.

The next thing for me to try was to rename a class file. But when I did so,
I got the same error that I got when using the CVSSCCProxy:

"You are trying to move or rename an item that is under source control. The
source control provider for MyClass.cs is unable to remember these kinds of
local changes. If you continue with the change, you will not be prompted to
check in this change to source control, and this item will no longer appear
to be under source control."

Is there a reason why I can't rename files since subversion can support
this? Is this some other limitation.

I noticed that when I said "Continue with change", it checked in a "new"
file for me with the new name. The old named file wasn't in the project
anymore (and my new file certainly didn't have any of the old history on
it).

I went back out to Windows Explorer with TortoiseSVN and did an update and
got the old named source file. So I now had both the old named file and the
new named file (although only the new named file was referenced in the
project).
