PushOK Monitor never finishes

( SVNSCC , N/A, current as of Oct. 15, 2007, WIN VISTA  )
Type: Public Status:Closed Created: 16 Oct 07 10:00 Updated: 19 Oct 07 10:00

14:25:20 It is very strange, nobody complained about such problems before.
But "freezing" tells us that RW Monitor is being blocked by something, most
likely on trying to save file into "cashe" folder.
RW Monitor is required to work with Microsoft Access. But files in "cashe"
folder are being created just once on the first running and then these
files will be edited from time to time.
The best way is that you will adjust your system this way that RW Monitor
could delete, create and edit the files in this folder without problems.
If it is problematically to do- you may work "as is", but then there can be
infrequent "freezing" of RW Monitor. It can be cured by running of
rescanning of RW Monitor drives, disabling security tools before doing
that.

I have UAC disabled and my Windows user account has Administrator rights,
so it certainly should be executing with enough privileges.

I test installed on a different PC running XP and it installed and ran the
RW Monitor just fine.

Let me describe my usage needs for SVNSCC and you can tell me if I need to
use RWMonitor at all. I will only use the SCC SVN plugin in Microsoft
Access (2003 or 2007). For everything else, I use TortoiseSVN from the
file system and AnkhSVN from Visual Studio 2005. The Access files I need
to manage with subversion and the SCC SVN plugin are in directories with
several other files (DB scripts, docs, VS.Net projects, etc.) that are in
the same repository. The most common scenario is that I will edit files in
various editors, Visual Studio, and change the MDB in Access - then I will
Commit all the changes using TortoiseSVN. We never use exclusive
check-outs, but we do sometimes have multiple people working on the same
files (this is even more often true with an MDB file, since it's really a
whole app in a single file, several people might be working on different or
overlapping parts [Forms, Queries, etc.] at the same time, and we may even
need to resolve conflicts on commit).

So, will I need to run RWMonitor in my use scenario and do you foresee any
problems with how we intend to use the product?

Also, very strangely, I have just attempted reinstalling PushOK SVNSCC to
reproduce the problem and check for the *.txt file, and it worked
perfectly, no hang-ups. When I created the service ticket I was on my 3rd
failed attempt, and I even tried once after that without success, but now
it appears to be working. I did change my AV from NOD32 to Avast, and my
firewall (ZoneAlarm 7.1) is currently disabled. Maybe some incompatibility
existed?

Thank you for your assistance, it appears I can now evaluate the software
and if it serves our needs we will be purchasing. It may be of note that I
also evaluated one of your competitors (in fact, the only other competitor
I could find), TamTam SVN, and I was very unimpressed with his software.

It is possible because of peculiarities of new security service in WIN
Vista. RW Monitor running is required not for all IDE (but it is required
for all Visual Studios).
Lets try to establish the reason of the problem step by step.
1. Verify existence of "c:\Program Files\Common Files\PushOk
Software\SCC\cashe" folder with "*.txt" file inside. This file is created
after the first run of RW Monitor. The absence of this file may cause our
problem. If there's no this file - you should verify that RW Monitor is
running under Admin (root) access

I just installed and when the PushOK RWMonitor scans my hard drive, it
stops at 28000 directories processed and never goes further.

I have let it sit and run for at least 5 minutes, and I have a fast machine
(2.2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4GB RAM 7200RPM SATA HD) and it only took a
couple of minutes to reach 28000.

I rebooted and it came up and ran again but has the same problem.

If this plugin will work well, I will almost certainly buy 5-10 licenses
for it. But right now it is not working.
