This problem is hurting us. Any chance of fixing this bug? Do you have an
updated schedule on release dates or milestones?

I've set the SVN Proxy properties to "Checkout files readonly".

I then did "Open from source control" to get a copy of a solution into a
new working directory.

No files checked out had the readonly flag set and so Visual Studio doesn't
prompt for a checkout when you start editing.

If you manually checkout, modify the file and checkin, the readonly flag is
now set so subsequent edits are prompted for checkout.
