OK, I found the workaround.

Step 1) Changed registry by hand.

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\VisualStudio\8.0\SourceControl\UserNames]
"0"="James P Michels III"
"1"="James P Michels III"

Step 2) Open Project
Step 3) Unbind Project
Step 3) Bind Project

All working properly now.

Your instructions were very helpfuly, and I made the change you suggested.

When I open projects, I am still being propmpted with the old username.

I went to the Tools->Options->Source Control->Plug In Settings section.
When the project is open, the default login is grayed out.

I tried disconnecting the project from source control, editing the default
login, and reconnecting the project. When I do this and restart the
project, I still get the login prompt with the old username and I still see
the old username in the default login box.

You can tuned it in options of VS.
1. Please open IDE (without opening solution!!!)
2. Follow to "Tools/Options..."
3. Expand "Source Control" tree item.
4. Select "Plug-in Settings"
5. Change "Login ID ... "
It will be your default login.
If you does not want to get Login dialog for this solution, please get
your solution from repository to new place.

My username is James P Michels III.

When ever I open a project under source control, I am prompted to enter a
password for user James_P_Michels_III (I had previously used this
username)

I cannot edit the username at the FIRST login prompt.
If I cancel the first login prompt, I am re-prompted and can edit the
username and enter to correct password.

The problem is that EVERY TIME I open a project, I am promted to enter the
password for the old username. I've tried deleting the cached records for
all servers, but no luck.
