Source Control with TOAD

( SVNSCC , TOAD, 1.4, WIN 2000/XP  )
Type: Public Status:Closed Created: 20 Oct 06 10:00 Updated: 08 Dec 06 12:00
--> Igor Pushkov (admin)  at 08 Dec 06 12:00 writes

I think this is TOAD issue, because even if use reference implementation -
MS SourceSafe, behavior is the same.

I installed the SVN engine and the plugin again and that error never
happened again. Maybe it was some sort of configuration on the SVN that
caused the error.

The only error I'm noticing right now is the indication in the bottom of
the screen of a controlled file as "uncontrolled", i.e. TOAD doesn't marks
files as Controlled, they are always "Uncontrolled", although they are in
the local SVN directory and/or are checked out.

Can you send me image of this error message?
--> inm (user)  at 03 Nov 06 11:00 writes

While I was waiting for your answer, I've consulted TOAD's documentation
and solved my mistake in the application's configuration.

The plugin works fine, that's right, but it has a bug when I try to ckeckin
or checkout a file, although this bug doesn't affect the version control
flow; it is just very annoying. The error screen is shown regarding a
function called isCanonical in a C file. Am I doing anything wrong?
--> Igor Pushkov (admin)  at 03 Nov 06 11:00 writes

We have installed TOAD and verified that plug-in recognized correctly. Also
we verified that it is possible to check-in and checkout files.
You just need to check TOAD documentation looking into "source control"
section. This section describes how to configure TOAD to prepare it for
source control. We just repeated mentioned steeps and all works fine.
Unfortunately we not use TOAD for our purposes so I cannot provide advices
how to better use it with source control. Usually such system use
export/import approach to export data (objects, functions) to/from binary
object (local database, server database, binary library). After exporting
files can be managed by Source Control. Export/import might be transparent
(as in MS Access, PowerBuild) or explicit (user controlled).
You have to consult TOAD documentation, forums and other to check how
better to work with source control. Plug-in is generic SCC API provider and
work in IDE is the same as with any other provider (MS SourceSafe, Perforce
and others).
I think this is all that I can say for this ticket.

We have not tested SVNSCC plug-in with DOAT.
Please tell me where I can download trial version of this IDE?

I\'m very keen in using your SVNSCC plugin with TOAD version 8.5 and
TortoiseSVN 1.4 to make our stored database objects\' source control, and
so I\'ve downloaded the application from your web site and followed your
documentation, but I had several problems, that I hope you may help to
solve, such as:

* The Source Control buttons on TOAD like the one \'Check File in to
Source Control\' return the error message \"No Source Control Defined\";
* All files from the directory selected on the plugin definitions are
marked as \'Uncontrolled\' when open.

Also, I\'d like to know, since I\'ve never worked with source control using
database objects, how do you checkout your files to make an initial local
copy? I suppose I have to create a copy of all my DB objects in my
filesystem, and then commit them to the repository. Isn\'t there a better
way to do that? (I have hundreds of objects)

I thank you in advance.
