WINCVGUI request

( CVSSCC )
Type: Public Status:Closed Created: 23 Feb 04 02:00 Updated: 23 Feb 04 02:00
--> Igor Pushkov (admin)  at 23 Feb 04 02:00 writes

This command used to launch some _standalone_ GUI, like SourceSafe
explorer for MS SourceSafe. Plug-in itself does not implement this
GUI, since all functions integrated in IDE. However, it is possible to
install and configure any other IDE you wish (WinCVS, SmartCVS,
LinCVS) and so on.
Configuring this GUI executable you will get only one advantage, you
could start it directly from IDE, instead of "Start" button or other
method.
You can install other CVSGUI or not. Plug-in not need it, and
implement almost all CVS function integrated to IDE. However, due to
historical reasons many developers first have WinCVS as CVSGUI. And
even they have now SCC integration they like sometime to use WinCVS.
I.e. this is optional.

When I right click the CVSProxy icon and select Start I get the message
that there is no CVSGUI available. I'm using Athlant personal. The same
happens when I select Source Control Environment from Athlant. I have not
installed WinCVS, do I need it?
