How do I use Branching in PowerBuilder successfully?

( CVSSCC , PowerBuilder, 2.0.x, WIN 2000/XP, local  )

I believe you have read the tickets already
http://www.pushok.com/tickets_addmodify.php?id=1301
http://www.pushok.com/tickets_addmodify.php?id=1230
and you know about PB restrictions on working with branches.

Pay attention to the fact that PB has one peculiarity (working with
branches):
Project files structure must be identical for "Trunk" and "branch" versions
of projects. All files should exist in both configurations, otherwise not
all projects versions will work correctly
--> Dan Cooperstock (user)  at 05 Nov 07 11:00 writes

I would like to use branching in PowerBuilder, so that I can switch to a
release branch to work on a release, switch back to the main branch to work
on an upcoming version, then again switch back to the release branch if I
need to make a minor fix to that release etc.

I'm working on only one computer.

I did some testing on this and I thought I knew how to do it when I tested
it with only one PB object being involved. But when I tried to do it for
the whole project, I ended up with all sorts of error messages at various
steps in the road, and ended up having to delete the branch (sticky tag?)
with the CVS command-line interface before anything would continue to work
in PB. (I had done everything else up to that point with your interface
from within PB.)

I have read other tickets on this and I am very unclear about whether or
not this can be done successfully. By the way, I'm not so worried about
merging branches - I am willing to do stuff like that by hand if necessary,
re-doing my changes. The big thing I am concerned about is being able to
work on two versions at once, switching back and forth between them as
required.

Can you please write some documentation on exactly how to do this with your
interface, successfully?

Thank you.
