Error : Requested operation not available offline

( CVSSCC )
Type: Public Status:Closed Created: 18 Mar 04 03:00 Updated: 05 Apr 04 04:00
--> Igor Pushkov (admin)  at 05 Apr 04 04:00 writes

This fix included to main installation. However please notice, since I
consider your repository "incorrect" or partially broken, we will not
implement this fix in "online/offline" check procedure, and you should
always switch off this option.
--> Sachin (user)  at 05 Apr 04 04:00 writes

Hi

just a questions :I understad we have fixes the issue by providing a new
DLL.
Does that mean for our purpose, we would have to use a different DLL or
would you plan to fix this issue in latest release of the plugin ?
--> Igor Pushkov (admin)  at 29 Mar 04 03:00 writes

PS) 1. Ability to take get latest with options like create missing dir,
PS) reset stick tags
Create missing dir does not have sense, since when IDE receive update
for project file (sln, vcproj and so on) it will know which files and
into which folders it is needed to get, even if these folder are not
exists.
All other options available, please see help:
http://www.pushok.com/help/cvsscc/index.php?redirect=ui_getopt.htm
PS) 2. Ability to get latest on a tag
The same page:
http://www.pushok.com/help/cvsscc/index.php?redirect=ui_getopt.htm
PS) 3. Ability to remove files (cvs remove)
Yes, check this ticket for details:
http://www.pushok.com//tickets_messages.php?id=16
PS) 4. Ability to mark files for edit
IDE checkout is "cvs edit"
--> Sachin (user)  at 29 Mar 04 03:00 writes

Just a side thought, does the plug in provides following functionalities
:1
1. Ability to take get latest with options like create missing dir,
reset stick tags
2. Ability to get latest on a tag
3. Ability to remove files (cvs remove)
4. Ability to mark files for edit

Does this help?
--> Igor Pushkov (admin)  at 26 Mar 04 03:00 writes

Try this fixed dll:
http://www.pushok.com/files/PushokCVSSCC_1.zip
Also switch off option
"Enable online/offline check procedure" under CVS options page of
configuration window.
--> Sachin (user)  at 26 Mar 04 03:00 writes

As I mentioned we do not have access to that folder.
I would try to get more info on why the module file is not present, but
that might take some time. In the mean time, is there any quick fix ?
Regards
Sachin
--> Igor Pushkov (admin)  at 26 Mar 04 03:00 writes

The "modules" file is a part of CVSROOT administration folder. You can
checkout it with WinCVS to any local folder. I.e. you need to type
your CVSROOT, and "CVSROOT" as module name. Several files will be
pulled to local. If you not see there "modules" file, just add
attched.
This file is _part_ of CVSROOT administration system, because of that
plug-in expect, that it should exist.
If this is not help (you do not have rights to checkout CVSROOT
module) we will make fix in plug-in. However, again, this is VERY
strange.
Let me know results.

--> Sachin (user)  at 26 Mar 04 03:00 writes

As I mentioned earlier... This is a managed solution and we don't have
access to CVS server directly. Thus :
1. Is there any alternative way to get things working ?
2. Why do the plugin expect existence of such a file ? I believe we wud
not have any rights for add/update/delete/read on this file on managed
server.

--> Igor Pushkov (admin)  at 26 Mar 04 03:00 writes

I found reason. Look at this:
Trying to launch C:\Program Files\PushOk Software\CVS Proxy\cvs.exe -z 2 -r
-d ":pserver:sgoel@sapient.inst.collab.net:/cvs" checkout -c in folder
"/"
Launched C:\Program Files\PushOk Software\CVS Proxy\cvs.exe -z 2 -r -d
":pserver:sgoel@sapient.inst.collab.net:/cvs" checkout -c in folder "/"
CSccOut:Shower: start event
CSccOut:Shower: end event
cvs [server aborted]: failed to open the modules file
Issuing this command plug-in tried to check is this root
":pserver:sgoel@sapient.inst.collab.net:/cvs" is valid (or
available).
On normal CVS repository this command return OK, or error. You
repository is "slightly" broken. Its administration folder not
contain "Modules" file. This file usually not used, but at least it
should exist.
Sure we can make some fix for your particular case (consider error
answer that with this text to be "good" answer). However better to
find reason why your repository broken. Ant thoughts?

Tried with new DLL but without any success. Debuglog is attached.
Debug log
--> Sachin (user)  at 25 Mar 04 03:00 writes

Seems like site is down. Is it possible for you to send me the DLL by
email as zip file ?

Sachin
--> Igor Pushkov (admin)  at 24 Mar 04 03:00 writes

I not see nothing criminal in your settings, and we use same
configuration. So, please, download this dll:
http://www.pushok.com/files/PushokCVSSCC.zip
Replace existing one with this, and try to repeat your problem. After
that please send me back the debug log that you find near the dll
(debuglog.txt)
--> Sachin (user)  at 22 Mar 04 03:00 writes

Pls note the info requested :
1. CVSROOT : :pserver:agandhi@cvs.sapient.inst.collab.net:/cvs
2. Version of CVS server : 1.11.1p1
3. Steps :
a. Installed PushOK s/w
b. Open Visual Studio
c. Created a project
d. Tried to add module files to CVS.
Please note :
1. I am connecting to a remote CVS server
2. In most cases, the pluug in connects correctly in first go(In terms
of connecting to cvs or creating new module). But if I try again, it
starts giving me this error till end.
Let me know if u need more info.

This error appears when CVS proxy "thinks" that it is offline from
server. However the same situation appears when CVSROOT is bad (i.e. it
cannot reach CVS repository). So please provide me with: 1. CVSROOT you
specify 2. Version of CVS server you use (if you use client server mode)
3. Sequence of actions that cause this problem (i.e. add solution to
CVS, try to checkout file e.t.c) } Best regards, } Igor Pushkov } PushOk

I am trying to evaluate this proxy for connecting to Visual Studio 6.0 and
.NET. While trying to use this proxy for Visual Studio 6.0 C++, I
consistently get the error(file attached). I am not able to figure out whts
the cause of the problem.

Also I am not able to install it for VB. The dll specified in help is not
present.
