Checking out for edit when unable to connect to server loses keyboard focus in editor

When working at home, or when otherwise away from our server, if I edit a
file which isn't checked-out then I get a prompt telling me that no-one
else will know I'm editing the file. When I select yes, and carry on
typing, the keyboard focus is lost and I have to click back onto the file
to type
