- Open the example database from SmartItems. This can be done by starting SIWin program and opening the home.sib database in it, or just by clicking on its name in the start menu: .
- Add a new folder of the 'Book (magazine)' type and name it "Example". Leave the icon by default. As a result, the folder window must look like:
- Select the folder 'Example' and add a new item to it. Fill the fields 'Name', 'Publisher' and 'Comment' with the value "Test". Then press 'Add'. You will see the following note in the item list window:
The item counter reading in the folder will increase by 1. The name of the created folder will be "Example (1)".
- Now change the field values for the fields 'Year', 'Pages' and 'Ratio' from 0 to 2004, 1 and 1 respectively. You will see the following data in the item list window:
- Now add a new category with the name "Example". The category window will look like:
- Add the item created in the folder 'Example' to the category 'Example'. Save the database changes.
- Find all items of the category 'Example'.
- Find all database items (cancel filtering by the category 'Example').
- Find the database item with the 'Name' field having the value "Test". The pictures of the folder window and the item window are shown below:
- Cancel all filters and search lines.
- Add an element (Sub Item) to the item of the folder 'Example', created in point 3 of this reference. Fill its fields 'Name', 'Publisher' and 'Comment' with the value "Sub Test", and the fields 'Year', 'Pages' and 'Ratio' - with the values 2004, 1 and 1 respectively. The folder window and the item window will look like:
- Double-click on the item of the folder 'Example', created in point 3. The folder window and item window will look like:
- Add the created item to the category 'Example'.
- To go to the upper level click on the button
- Print the folder 'Example' with all attached folders and items in the 'Large' mode. The result of printing is shown below:
- Print the item of the folder 'Example' with the 'Name' field equal to "Test". The result of comparison is given below:
- Save the database changes and exit the program.
